Their Lobster Subs are out of this world and addictive to lobster addicts like me. Known for its bold flavors and signature toasting process, Quizno's has remained a favorite for sandwich lovers.

Starbucks: The Rise, the Stumbles, and the Loyal Addict’s Story [2026 Update]

If you’ve ever arrived jet-lagged and far from home, you know the comfort that comes with spotting that familiar green siren shining in a city square; a warm beacon of WiFi, a reliable menu, and a seat where no one rushes you out. For me, as someone who has traversed the world’s airports, train stations, and city streets, Starbucks has always offered a pocket of consistency, a place where one can recharge both phone and spirit, connect with loved ones, or just fade into the background with a sweet, icy chai. It’s not just caffeine on demand, it’s the closest thing to home base I could rush to, wherever I wander, and it’s held my loyalty for decades. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. My original article on Starbucks, with high ratings of 5 stars out of 5, has dwindled to 2 stars out of 5, and I unfortunately see myself divorcing from the long-standing relationship I once shared with the Siren.

The Oregon Trail

I remember growing up hearing about the Oregon Trail as a video game, then come graduation I drove part of it when I headed to the West Coast. The Oregon Trail is a pioneer trail that extends approximately 2,170 miles from the Eastern to the Western United States. It was used by large-wheeled wagons by primarily Euro-American settlers heading West before the railways were built. It was originally carved by trappers and fur traders from 1811 until 1840, only passable by horseback and foot.

Miracle Hotsprings (Buhl, Idaho)

One of my favorite commercial hot springs stop-offs in the American Wild West. Right off of the scenic byway - Thousand Springs in Idaho, off US-80, about a 1/2 hour detour from the interstate lies a small little resort called "Miracle Hot Springs." It has several public geothermal pools, numerous private tubs/pools, a pet alligator, canvas group camping domes, tent areas, and a campsite for RVs with a small riverboat launch. Located across the highway and down the road from the Snake River.
